We’ve been running for five years, offering a friendly, fortnightly venue for local wargamers. At present we meet every 2 weeks on Friday evenings and the following Saturday mornings in the Pavilion in Walberton, a village near Arundel on the West Sussex coast. As well as Games
Workshop’s 40k, Fantasy and Lord of the Rings, we also play Star Wars Universe and GW’s specialist games such as Battlefleet Gothic and
Bloodbowl. The Friday evening sessions are for anyone over 16 years old and the Saturday mornings are for 12 years old and up. We are members of the Gaming Club Network, which requires us to have a child protection policy, proper rules and organisation. We do the occasional all-day session, usually to prepare scenery and gaming boards. In 2005, we ran an all-day sponsored gaming session and raised over £1100 for the Tsunami Appeal. In 2006, a dozen of us held an all-night gaming session and raised over 700 pounds for the local homeless people's refuge. In 2007 a 24-hour marathon raised over 700 pounds for Sussex Snowdrop Trust and, in 2009, we staged another 24-hour marathon in aid of Help for Heroes. We've run a series of campaigns and recently sent our first team into battle at Pompey Pillage 2009. Membership costs 5 pounds a year, plus 1 pound per session. This covers rent of the Pavilion, our public liability insurance and allows a decent surplus for events and scenery. These subs haven't risen for 3 years. How To Reach UsWalberton is 2 miles west of Arundel, south of the main A27. The Pavilion is on the village playing field, just beyond the children’s play area. From Arundel, Chichester or the north, take the A27 to the B 2132 turning south to Yapton (look for the Oaks Restaurant and Hilton Hotel on the corner). After about ¾ mile, turn right at a mini-roundabout into the village. Turn right just after the parade of shops into the Village Hall car park and playing field. From Littlehampton & Middleton, you can either use the A27, or drive through Yapton to turn north at the Olive Branch up the B2132. Cross the railway and, after about a mile, turn left at the mini-roundabout beside the Forge Gallery. Turn right just after the parade of shops into the Village Hall & playing field car park. From Bognor Regis, take the A29 to Eastergate, turning right at the War Memorial towards the Fontwell racecourse. Just after the SPR animal food shop, turn right into Eastergate Lane and continue to the village pond. Turn left onto the main road through the village. When you reach the parade of shops, stop, curse and back up, ‘cos you’ve missed the left turn into the Village Hall car park and playing field.
