| Congratulations to Matt S, for winning our "goodbye 4th edition campaign" he has now been crowned Lord of 4th edition. 2nd place goes to 'thejoke' and joint 3rd goes to Ben and Rob. |
| Goodbye Paul and Sue! We said goodbye to two friends and challenging gamers in our first July session. For those who couldn't be there, we had a surprise present for them of GW Gift Vouchers in Australian Dollars! |
| Congratulations! We raised over 700 pounds for St Joseph's Night refuge. A report on our marathon was included in the winter edition of the Games Workshop Club Newsletter and a picture will be in their next issue . |
| The winner of our 40k campaign is Ollie Hill, with a Tyranid army. Overall, there were three Tyranid armies in the top scorers which says something about the rapaciousness of that race (or a failing in the rules!) |

Walberton Wargamers 0 - Bracknell Forest Giants 5 Quite an impressive score, as only 4 of us were gaming! Sonny's space marines took on a seriously tricky bunch of eldar, Matt's chaos marines faced a pink-and-purple, Chaos sisters of battle force (enough to put anyone off!) and Eddy's tyrannid faced off against the Imperial Guard. Should have been a walkover! Except that the Guard tucked themselves into a corner of the board and poured las bolts and shells into the tyrannid. The idea of Chaos sisters of battle may have un- nerved the Chaos marines (perhaps they didn't like fighting girls) or perhaps they were distracted by the amount of flesh that the Sisters Penitentia were showing. And the eldar must have been taking steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs, as the Ultramarines were going down like ninepins. Not satisfied with losing 3-0, Matt and Mike played a game each to take the final result to 5-0. This time the chaos marines took on the Imperial Guard - and lost. Mike's Praetorians squared up to the eldar and were taken to pieces by a Banshee squad (not fair - their power swords were too long) and a seer council with attitude. Bit embarrassing, really. Still, the fish and chips were good. Anyone fancy a return match in Bracknell? |
|
19th November. 40K tournament against Bracknell Forest Giants We have a regular gaming meeting as usual, then the Bracknell team join us around noon. Our team takes them on at 40k during the afternoon. The regular meeting finishes at 1pm. You're welcome to stay and watch or do some painting or, if there's a table free (there may not be) have a game. If you stay, bring a packed lunch or money for fish and chips (We'll organise a bulk order from Barnham). |

We have been given two tables to take part in the Bognor Military Modelling and Wargaming
Society Open Day at West Meads, Bognor on 16th October. I will take our two 4-feet boards that
Games Workshop have donated. If you would like a couple of hours gaming on these, and are willing to explain about Warhammer and the club to spectators, please let Mike know. We now have a new 4' x 4' gaming board, contained war-torn land, dead trees and a seriously unpleasant-looking river, kindly donated by Games Workshop Brighton. |

War of the RingThe club is registered for the War of the Ring campaign, which starts in June. This gives you the chance to re-fight the War of The Ring and decide the fate of Middle-earth! The results of any Lord of the Rings battles you fight can be added to the campaign results. Will the efforts of the Fellowship be futile with the forces of evil overrunning Middle-earth destroying anything good that stands in their path; or will the forces of good rally together and drive out the dark forces allowing Middle-earth to return to peace once more. The fate of Middle-earth is in your hands! More information will follow..Website and e-mailsDetails of our all-day meeting are now on-site. Please e-mail if you have any questions. All club information goes onto our website. I try to submit information at least a week before the meeting. If you would like to update your army lists or your photos on the site, please let me know. I am preparing an up-to-date table showing who has what armies, so you can arrange battles before our meetings. Please let me know what 40k, LoTR, fantasy and specialist armies you have and what points value they are. This will let you find opponents and arrange games before the meeting. We have a club discussion group on Yahoo. If you send an e-mail to the group address and it is automatically copied to all group members. This lets you issue challenges, suggest scenarios, arrange games and keep in contact with club members who aren't at the same school. We could use it to decide what to do at meetings and to arrange special events.. If you would like to join the group, please let me have your e-mail address. Specialist gamesWe have enough boards and scenery for Mordheim, Necromunda, or Battlefleet Gothic games. Let me know if you are interested. |
Final Total! The final total for the Club's 8-hour sponsored gaming marathon on 29th January is just over £1,100!Well done ! The Gift Aid forms (which use tax relief to add £27 to every £100 donated) could add up to £297 to our total, making our overall contribution to the Appeal almost £1400! For a club that's only been open for 18 months that is an amazing result. It's difficult to find the words to say how impressed I am with what you've achieved. Mike |
Marathon UpdateIt looks as though we have raised about £600! If every sponsor completes a Gift Aid form to allow the DEC to claim back tax then this will increase to over £800 - so getting the forms filled in is really important. Please bring your sponsorship money and the Gift Aid forms to the February 26th meeting. Cheques should be made payable to DEC Tsunami Earthquake Appeal. Open DayIn addition to the sponsorship money, we raised nearly £30 from letting people come and watch us.

Gaming Marathon and Open Day29th January is our 8-hour sponsored gaming marathon, raising money for the Tsunami Appeal. More details in the Meetings and Events section .Winter WarGames Workshop Portsmouth have said that any club games played during January can be added to their Winter War Scoreboard. More details soon. |
New BoardGames Workshop Brighton have very kindly donated a games board for us to use. It should be available at the December Meeting.2004 League - last chance!December is the last month for games to be played in the league. It would be good if everyone had at least three games entered. Games played at home can be counted as long as both players agree - and agree the casualty points!Final Scores will be worked out by calculating the percentage of casualties taken against army size (e.g. 1000 points of casualties from a 1500 point army = 66%) + victory points and adjusted for the number of games played. There will be trophies for 40k, Warhammer and LoTR winners. Last Stand ScenarioThis scenario represents the times when after a great battle the few survivors of the defeated army scrounge weapons and equipment from the battlefield and knowing they will die, prepare a Last Stand to go down fighting. The scenario has been developed by Matt C. Please contact him (via me if you don't know his 'phone no.) if you'd like to play-test this scenarioClick here to read. The Cherry Tree Fields MassacreA Warhammer Fantasy battle report by Matt C, recording what occurred when Grishnak Nosebreaker tried to relieve the siege of his stronghold in the mountains from the attacks of Crom the Conqueror. Notable for being a battle which Matt lost! This also includes notes on a character developed by Matt - Jerg Svenngor The Orc-Hewer, Berserker ChampionClick here to read. |
ThanksA big 'thank you' to Richard, Ben and Paul of Crawley Games Workshop, who have given us a 4 foot gaming board and a bag of old scenery. These will be available at the next meetingThanks to GW's Community Team for a box of 40K scenery and paints, collected by Mike on a half-term trip to Warhammer World. Gaming Club NetworkWe are officially part of the Gaming Club Network! The certificate and a badge for everyone arrived on 29th July. We're also welcomed into the Network on http://www.gamingclub.org.uk/BirthdayThe Club is now one year old. We started with about 6 people last summer and now have 30! |
At present the site contains club news, league results and army lists. If you’d like to contribute anything, please send it to me. Battle reports, background ‘fluff’ about your army, photos, modelling tips, anything you like!MeetingsThe next meeting is on July 17th.There will be some empty boxes and cartons and other material available that you can use to make buildings and scenery. Every meeting will have a painting table so that, if your game finishes early, you can catch up on your unpainted models. Bring your own paints, though! I will try and organise some meetings during August - I’m waiting to hear when the Pavilion is free. Please let me know if you can help organise or supervise. Army ListsYou must have your army lists available before your league game can take place. This lets other members check the list and make sure it complies with the Codex and ensures that no-one adds any last-minute surprise units on the day to gain an unfair advantage. You can e-mail them to me at the address below or post them and I will put them on the website. You can change your list between rounds as long as the points total remains the same. You can download blank army lists from here. As not everybody has massive armies, lists should be for 500, 1,000, 1,500 and 2,000 points. So, if your army is 1,500 points strong, make lists for 500, 1,000 and 1,500 points-worth, in case your opponent only has a 500 or 1,000 point army. The lists must comply with the current codex or armies book and should include any special rules or magic lore that you intend to use during the game. If you have less than 500 points, please let me know before the meeting. SceneryI have been able to buy some 40k defence walls for the club using the £2 meeting payment and some discount granted by NUGaming against club members’ orders. Next I hope to get some buildings for Warhammer Fantasy games. |
Following our last meeting, I've been told that the Gaming Club Network has approved our rules and that we can link with them as soon as the membership pack reaches me.MeetingsThe next two meetings are on June 19th and July 17th. As usual, 10am-12.45pm. Games should start by 10.30pm and finish by 12.30, leaving 15 minutes to clear away. Feel free to bring painting kit with you in case your game finishes early. If you want to make more scenery at home, I will bring a couple of binbags full of empty boxes and cartons that you can raid for raw materials. If you aren’t listed in the first round of league battles (see here) but would like to take part, please let me know before the June meeting. David, Matt and Daniel won’t be at the June meeting, so the others will get to fight their battles first - as long as you have army lists ready! To ensure that armies are of equal size, you must have your army lists for your opponent to see before the battle can take place. You can e-mail them to me at the address below or bring them on the day. Before is better, as I’ll have both lists and can let you know what size army to prepare. As the website develops, the lists can be posted there for everyone to see. Lists should be for 500, 1,000, 1,500 and 2,000 points. So, if your army is 1,700 points strong, make lists for 500, 1,000 and 1,500 points-worth. The lists must comply with the current codex or armies book and should include any special rules or magic lore that you intend to use during the game. If you have less than 500 points, please let me know before the next meeting. We will use the random scenario generators that were published in White Dwarf and I will work out a system of Victory Points for us to use. The ClubOur committee until Sept 2005 is:Mike Roddham, Chris Roddham, Tania Allison, Sharon Large, Keith Robinson. As agreed, the payment per meeting will now be £2 per person. This will let us build up some money to use on scenery and equipment. Apart from minor changes, the draft rules were agreed in May and apply from now onwards. I will get sets printed for everyone, together with new membership forms. If you’re likely to get a snack-attack during the meeting, please raid the shops before we start. This saves us trying to keep track of who’s gone out and who’s returned during the morning. As discussed in May, we can only keep an eye on things happening in the Pavilion. If you go to the shops and get run over or jumped on by a pervert, the club isn’t responsible. First round battles for the June meeting: |
